How To Use Fiverr
Setting up a business or project can often require a wide variety of skills and abilities. For example, setting up a website may require technical abilities to implement and create the various pages and features and then make them available on the Internet. It may also require creative talents and skills to create a fluid, consistent, and good-looking website design.
Often times we don't want to have to focus too much of our time on such aspects - we just want to have our business up and running so we can put effort into the important things (e.g. writing blogs for your blogging website). It may also be that we simply don't know how to create designs or code webpages and such. This is where a service like Fiverr can come in very handy.

What is Fiverr
Fiverr is an online freelance services marketplace, or in other words, it's an online platform where you can pay freelancers and experts to use their skills to create something for you. Think of it like eBay but instead of ordering physical products you're ordering expert services.
Fiverr offers services (called Gigs on the platform) from experts in various categories such as logo design, website design and coding, voice-over acting, video and photo editing, and even offer business services such as financial advice. And this only scrapes the bottom of the barrel. For example, checkout this gig which will give you composed music for your movie or video game at a very affordable price or this other gig which will provide you with an infographic design of your specification.
If you're after a bit more expertise in the service you require, there are more professional gig providers and prices range from the single digits to the hundreds and beyond even depending on the level of quality you are after. There are even studios offering their services on Fiverr.
Each gig usually offers various packages, each at different price points and offering different levels of service.
How to use Fiverr?
Here we'll take you through the process of searching for, ordering, and receiving a service or gig on Fiverr.
Choosing a gig
When looking for a service or gig on Fiverr you'll usually be spoiled for choice, so how do you pick one? Firstly, find the category you're after. Then you'll need to pick your gig. It is common for gigs to provide specific services that might be unique to other gigs in the same category. As an example, within the logo design category you'll find gigs that provide different styles of logos such as minimalist, 3D, or complex depending on the specialties of the gig author. Take some time to find the gig offering the type of service you are after, and make use of the filter options of Fiverr.
Secondly we'll look at packages. Each gig usually has three package levels. The more expensive the package the more you'll get from the gig. For example, you may get more revisions allowing you to request alterations or changes on the finished product. You may receive the finished product sooner. You may be offered more detailed or better products. It is important to browse multiple gigs and explore their packages to find the ones that offer what you are looking for.
Another thing to look at when choosing a gig is the reviews. Of course higher reviews usually indicate a better service quality, but it is also important to consider that some categories on Fiverr (e.g. logo design) are more popular than other categories and contain gigs that are used more often than gigs of other categories. Therefore gigs from these popular categories may have more reviews. So it is important to consider and compare the reviews of gigs in the same category as well as gigs all over Fiverr.
For this demonstration, we have decided that we should order a gig and go through the process with you.
Firstly, after making an account, we began searching for a gig that suited our needs. We decided to look for a logo design and creation gig and found this one by mountdesign. We chose this gig because it had great reviews with nearly 7000 five star reviews which was excellent within the logo design category. The gig was also very affordable and the basic package offered us all we needed: 2 high quality logos, delivered within 1 day, and offering 4 revisions. This gig provider in particular is run by a team of designers.
Ordering a gig
Once you have chosen a gig you like, you then pay for the service and then will be prompted to answer a series of questions about what you are after from the gig. This can be around a dozen questions which you can answer with practically as little or as much detail as you would like. Often times you can provide references and you can be very specific about what it is you are after.
In our logo design demonstration for example, we were asked what message and impressions we want our logo to give. We were asked what specific details we would like in our logo. We were also asked to give any references of websites with logos we liked as examples. Among numerous other questions we were able to clearly define and describe our requirements. We then submitted the request.
Receiving your product
Once your order is received, the gig provider begins working within the time frame given. Once they have finished with your order, you will be given a delivery containing the product or service output. From here you can download and evaluate the product and any other content provided by the gig provider. If you are happy with the result then you can complete the gig. If you have revisions as part of your gig then you can request a revision to be made by the gig provider. When requesting a revision, you are simply prompted to send a message with your revision. This message should specify details of any changes or modifications that you would like to request of the gig provider. You are free to attach files to the message as well to further explain what it is you are after. Your revision will be handled within the same delivery time as the initial order, so if your original order had a delivery time of 1 day, the revision will also take 1 day.
In our logo design gig demonstration, after putting in our order and request, the finished logo was delivered to us in less than a day! The logo looked better than we expected and we were quite impressed with the speed and quality. We then requested in a revision that the logo should emphasize a particular element of the logo after we realized how it would look better to us. We provided an illustration in the revision message to give a better idea of what we were looking for exactly. Again, our revised logo design was delivered to us in much less than 1 day. This revision had made the improvements we were looking for and we were satisfied so we completed the order. We were so pleased with this logo design that we are currently using it as our website's logo.
There you have it. You now have your final product and your order is complete.
The power of Fiverr
Fiverr can be used for more than simply creating a logo for you website.
